It's been quite awhile since I have updated my little corner of the internet, but alas I am back (again)! What is a better way to venture back to my small blog to announce that I'm getting married! If you didn't catch it on instagram a few months ago...That's right Brad and I are becoming one!
The story is so us, and it was so sweet. Rewind back to February 13, 2016 (yes Valentine's day weekend! First and foremost I am all about Valentine's day! Whether you're celebrating with your significant other, have a galentines day date with the girls, spend it alone and just decompress, or even with your fur baby. It's a day about love in many different capacities.) We had your typical day Valentines day date. We started by going to our local winery, where we shared raspberry cheesecake and different wine pairings. We then moved on to the next local winery where they had wine paired with a variety of chocolates.
I have to mention it was the coldest day of the year (brrrr!) so obviously being outside was rough, but we pushed through. We had dinner reservations at a quaint little local restaurant. We went to dinner, and to be honest we had an underwhelming experience. The food was over priced for what we were served, our sangria's were tasteless and bitter. The service was extremely slow. From the cold brisk air, and the wine tasting from earlier in the day, I became quite tired. All I wanted was to come home and put my sweats on and hit the sheets. We had asked for our check, and forty five minutes after we had asked for it we were both annoyed and impatient. We reminded our waitress of the check, and we rushed out of there like there was no tomorrow.
I kept repeating myself on the way home, 'I'm so tired', 'I'm so cold', 'I just want to put on my sweats'. We pulled into the garage, and I grabbed my purse, and was greeted by our dog Mia at the bottom of the stairs. I begin to walk up the stairs with the dog in front of me, and Brad behind me. I finally get to almost the top of the stairs when I realize this beautiful glow throughout the entire house. There were hundreds of votive candles lit throughout our living room, dining room, and kitchen (hence the reason why he was getting impatient about the check.)
My first comment was 'where is your mom?!', my second comment was 'our new house could have burned down!'. He sat me down on our couch, and he said I have something I want to ask you, and I just started crying and I couldn't stop (I blame the wine!), and he said some words (I can't remember, again bawling at this point), then followed with I want to spend the rest of my life with you! I love you very much! I said yes, and he slipped my dream ring on my finger. I got up and hugged him, and said 'I'm sorry but I really have to go put my sweats on! Call your mom!'. I immediately went and put my sweats on then immediately sent a text to every important person in my life.
It was sweet, and intimate, and I couldn't ask for a better story! And for those who were wondering, his mom did sneak in while we were at dinner and lit all the candles for him. I knew she had to be there at some point!
I'm so ecstatic that I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend! So far we have had a lot of fun planning our wedding! We are set to wed on May 27, 2017. Yes we are having a Memorial Day weekend wedding because Memorial Day and the 4th of July are my favorite holidays, and July was just a tad too warm for Brad, so May it is!
I kind have put the brakes on as far as planning since I have done so much already, but I want to be able to document it all here!
